Understanding the widget’s placement

Buunto – Date & Time Slot offers two options. You can either choose to place the date/time picker on the product page, just before clicking the Add to cart button or you can choose to place it on the cart page, just before clicking the Checkout button.

You will need to place the widget manually using Shopify's theme editor. Please follow our install guide for more information.

You can choose to display the date picker on the product page:

It offers the following advantages:

  • It allows your customer to check the availability of the product before adding it to the cart;
  • It allows your customer to select different dates/time slots for a different product (however there is an option to enforce a single date to be selected.

You can choose to display the date picker on the cart page:

The main advantages are that your customers only have to select the date/time slot once, just before checkout. It naturally enforces having a single date and time slot for the whole basket.

Considerations

  • If you've chosen to display our date/time slot picker on the cart page then you may want to disable the Express Checkout button (a.k.a. Dynamic Checkout or "Buy it now" button). That's because this feature allows you to skip the cart page. Therefore your customers won't have the chance to select a date and time slot when using it. To do so please refer to this guide: How to disable the Express Checkout button. Alternatively, if you want to keep the Express Checkout button you can set our widget to show on the product page instead.
  • Note that some themes use technology that make it impossible to plug our widget into the “cart drawer” or “cart popup” feature. If it doesn’t show automatically, you can try manually placing the widget (Article: Placement Method for Vintage Themes). If that doesn’t work, then you may want to disable the drawer/popup feature, and display the widget on your store’s Cart page. Alternatively, if you want to keep using the cart drawer of popup feature, you can set our widget to show on the product page instead.
