Checkout alerts: Handling shipping method mismatches

If you are on Shopify Plus, you can display a banner alert on the checkout page if the customer selects a different delivery method than the one chosen on the cart or product page using our Buunto widget.

The Checkout Alert for Method Mismatch feature allows you to display alerts on the checkout page if the delivery method selected by customers in the widget differs from the one they choose on that page.

If the customer selects "Shipping" on the cart page, the following behavior occurs on the Checkout page:

  • If they select "Store Pickup"

A banner appears under "Store Locations" with the message:

"You have selected: Shipping. If you prefer to pick up your order, please go back to the cart page to select that option."

  • If they select "Local Delivery" in the shipping options

A banner appears in the 'Local Delivery' section with the message:

"You have selected: Shipping. If you prefer to have your order delivered, please go back to the cart page to select that option."

  • If they select the "Shipping" option

    No banner is displayed.

How to enable the feature

To enable this Checkout UI extension, go to Themes > Customize > Checkout > Add app block > Method mismatch banner.

The UI extension must be added to the highlighted slots above. Note that the preview message is only for demonstration purposes and will not be visible in the live version.

How to edit the wording in the banner

The wording is configurable within Buunto's language settings. These two include multi-language support. Default wording has been provided for the 13 languages we support by default.
